Platinum Mosquito Protection • About Us
It’s unanimous—no one likes mosquitos!
And most of us have tried all kinds of crazy things to get rid of them. The sprays, the lotions, the candles, the zappers, the magnets, the garlic and lemons, the cleaning products and Pinterest hacks—we’ve been there, too.
But then we discovered a secret mosquito control system at a horse farm near our house that killed and repelled mosquitos, flies, no-see-ums, and other buzzing, biting insects that make the outdoors unbearable.
We had a system installed at our house in Spring 2002, right before our annual Mother’s Day BBQ. And we were so impressed by the results that we bought the company.
What is a mosquito control system?
Our mosquito control system is comprised of a 55-gallon drum, pump, motor, and pressure gauge that we connect to a network of spray nozzles installed strategically around your property. It uses an automated timer to release a liquid insecticide solution that kills and repels mosquitos and other annoying insects.
Our system is very simple to operate and requires very little intervention from the owner. We’ll program the automatic timer and show you how to operate it on installation day. When the timer goes off, the system releases a brief, fine mist through the installed spray nozzles. That mist is all you need to control biting insects.
What types of insects does your system control?
Our systems repel and kill mosquitos, no-see-ums, flies, fleas, gnats, ticks, and wasps. They also repel spiders and their unsightly, hard-to-reach webs. Our automatic insect control systems and insecticides have been used in Florida to repel and kill annoying insects for over 25 years.
What kind of insecticide does Platinum Mosquito Protection use?
We use insecticides that blend natural pyrethrum, a derivative of certain species of the chrysanthemum flower, and permethrin, another pyrethroid known as the synthetic form of pyrethrum. This blend of pyrethrum and permethrin creates superior results to those achieved when used separately.
The pyrethrum provides a quick knockdown and kill of the insect. The permethrin provides residual killing and repelling of the insect, a long-lasting characteristic that inhibits reinfestation. Pyrethrum and permethrin are biodegradable and provide a broad spectrum of insect control with low mammalian toxicity.
Our specially-formulated insecticide also contains piperonyl butoxide (PBO), a synergist that alters the penetration of the insecticides and decreases the time required for them to take effect on the insect’s central nervous system. It also aids in the battle against the insect’s resistance to the insecticide.
Emulsifying ingredients result in a microemulsion that does not separate, which means the active ingredients remain in consistent concentration within the tank so that no stirring or agitation is required.
Do you offer any green products or other insecticides?
Yes! We also use products that contain either pyrethrum or permethrin, rather than a blend of both, and we also have products with different actives that can be used when needed.
For customers who prefer, we also offer “exempt” or “green” alternatives classified as minimum-risk pesticides. These products will not provide the same knockdown punch of pyrethrum, but they will help to repel and reduce the bugs in your area. As part of your consultation, we will review the alternatives with you and help you make the best choice for you.
Is this one of those propane systems I’ve seen before?
No! Propane-based machines emit carbon dioxide in an attempt to mimic a human and attract bugs. These devices are intended to attract bugs in order to capture and kill them. What sense does that make?
Our automatic spray systems REPEL and KILL biting insects. We don’t attract anything. Propane machines also require significant homeowner intervention and maintenance. With an automatic spray system, you just set the timer and enjoy the outdoors. We do the rest.
What does it cost?
Prices vary for each location depending on the type and amount of coverage you need. That’s why we offer free on-site consultations. Our reps will meet you at your location to evaluate your needs and get familiar with the property, which allows us to design a system specifically for your property. You will receive a written price estimate at the end of the consultation. Once you accept our proposal, we’ll schedule the installation date.
How often will I need to refill my tank?
You won’t! We do that for you. The frequency at which we’ll need to do it will be different for each installation. Usage is determined by the number of nozzles as well as the number and duration of firing cycles used within a 24-hour period. Once we design your system, we’ll be able to determine a routine maintenance schedule.
Why do you offer on-site consultations? Can’t we just talk on the phone?
No two outdoor areas are the same. We like to stop by so we can see where your pests are coming from, determine when they’re most active, talk to you about when and where you spend your time outdoors, get a feel for your landscaping, and peek at what’s in the surrounding areas.
The answers to these questions allow us to give you our best recommendation for your particular situation. Sometimes a misting system is the perfect solution. Sometimes it’s not. There are a number of ways to approach any problem and we find that being there allows us to help you figure out the best solution.
We are confident our misting system will change the way you enjoy the outdoors and we want you to feel the same. We offer a 60-day money-back satisfaction guarantee with each new system purchase. No questions asked—just work with us to troubleshoot your concerns and allow us to make modifications if needed. If you are still not satisfied that the system has produced the promised results, we’ll remove the system and refund 100% of the money paid.
We know our customers are our best form of advertisement. We hope that you’ll tell all of your friends, neighbors, and family about us. For each referral you provide that buys a system of their own, we’ll provide a free refill on your system—totally free! If you have a 55-gallon system, that’s more than a $250 value.
