3 Things You Can Do When the Kids Are Back in School

What to do, now that you have the time

Summer is quickly coming to an end, and that means less time with the kids – which can be both a blessing and a curse. The hard part is that children grow up so quickly, and it can be tough to miss out on quality time with them. But the blessing is that everyone needs some time to themselves, and the best opportunity to do that is when the school year kicks into gear. Check out these three things you can get done when the little ones are back in class:

Fall clean

We’ve all heard of spring cleaning, but fall cleaning is just as important and something that should really be more popular. During summer, you have your children running around and likely making messes – and it’s not even just them, it’s their friends too. Once they’re back in school and out of the house, it’s time to get your home back in order. If you live somewhere that experiences a real winter, start thinking about what clothes you can put in storage (and what clothes you need to take out). Get rid of things you haven’t used in a while and restore some simplicity and organization to your domain. Have you been wanting a change? Now is your chance!

Get some alone time

If you’re fortunate enough to not have to spend your entire day working, try to get some time in either alone or with your significant other. If you have the option to both take the day off and just get away, then do it. It can be tough to get time off when you are taking care of the kids, so take advantage of them being back in school – and make it a point to do a few nice things for yourself.

Work on improving yourself!

Whether it’s taking the time to make yourself healthy meals or getting your butt to the gym, make sure you give yourself the time you deserve. When you have kids around all the time, it can be really tough to focus on self-improvement. Now that they’re back in school, it’s an opportunity. Go to the gym, think about what you’re eating, and generally take advantage of this breather to get your health in order. Your kids may always come first, but that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve the best as well.

Now that the kids are hitting the books, you can probably relax just a bit more. And having them gone for the majority of the day gives you to time to start that garden you always wanted or to redo your backyard so it’s a place the whole family can enjoy. Just remember, if you choose to unwind outside, make sure you’re protecting yourself from those pesky mosquitos!

A backyard misting system is a great option for reducing the threat from mosquitos, spiders, and other pests. Looking for more information on how to protect your family from the irritation and diseases that mosquitos can cause? Click here to find out how Platinum Mosquito Protection can help.
